Turf & Cancer

Artificial Turf and Leukemia/Lymphoma

There is a lot of speculation of the link between artificial turf and blood cancers (Leukemia and Lymphoma).  It isn’t the green grass-like fibers, it is the crumb rubber or ‘turf bugs’ as kids call them.   Crumb rubber is made from recycled tires which contain carcinogens.

Carcinogens….”A carcinogen is any substance, radionuclide, or radiation that promotes carcinogenesis, the formation of cancer.”

That definition alone should be reason enough to question a substance that children are playing on, young men and women are training and playing and bleeding on, and adults are making their professions on.

Right now, just some links to articles and information.  Soon, more….
